What are the outer mittens made of?

I was with you till you put on that bulky over mitten. Flip mitts are absolutely the best. I have a pair from glacier glove that were a bit more expensive but they eliminate any need for a bulky over mitten and provide tons of dexterity in one second or less. Get a decent glove liner to wear under the flip mittens and you can probably lose the massive over mitten you naughty kitten.

Some plasticy material that looks like leather.. It's a bit stiff but it is definitely windproof.

I had not thought about a glove liner inside the mittens. Only problem was I noticed wind seeping in with the wool overmittens, so that's why I got the over-mit.

Mine are not made of knitted wool, so they aren't as porous. But still i bet you would be surprised how well those would work.
