Well, to answer your question a racing saddle is light and allows free movement of the legs and complete mobility of the upper body.
These are useful qualities for racing and "performance" cycling but do not usually translate to comfort. Ever seen (or been in) a race car? Not exactly a Bentley, but it gets the job done.

I have thus far never experienced a saddle more comfortable than my Selle San Marco SKN Fusion 3.
It's the first saddle that I can ride on for hours and hours without pain, chafing or numbness.
And it's fairly narrow, with almost no padding of any kind. Very hard to the touch. But that's the way a good saddle should be!

The point is the front part.
Properly fitted, almost undetectable in use. For some people, sensitive fit, others fit many things. I'm sort of in between.
The wide comfort saddles work great at low speed, high positions, short distances. Chafe the daylights out of me on longer rides.
Classic leather works fine, very heavy. Comfortable. Different design, suspended hammock of leather.

I think you'll find that if you put in a lot of miles, the classic racing saddles are also more comfortable.

People associate Butt Pain with thin and hard saddles. Not the case- There are bad saddles out there but it is normally the butt at fault. You do have to get a saddle wide enough for the sit bones and possibly a bit of padding but the worst saddles around are the wide armchairs with lots of gell and cushioning. You find this out after years of experimentation and dipping into the wallet in a big way- so why not use the professional saddle that the cogniscient use? They are designed for good reasons and lightness is only one of them. The rest relate to comfort for hours and days on end.
