I recently came across this design for arranging headlights to enhance recognition in traffic. Something to consider when arranging where you put your headlights. A bicycle helmet light is already in the correct place:

Does that guy have some scaffolding on his back holding that light up way high? It looks like it is a foot or more over his helmet.

That looks more like a scooter than a motorcycle, but either way still cool. The scropion tail is pretty interesting; probably makes it safer for the rear passenger too.

The dual/multiple stacked light assisting speed assessment makes sense to me and I have seen discussed before.

What is new to me is that a very low (in distance from road surface, not intensity) light helps with distance assessment. Does anyone know more about this?

It can't be a scooter. I don't think a scooter has enough power to move around all that equipment.

It looks like one of those maxi-scooters that can go upwards of 600cc and are fully highway long mileage capable. I'm always this >< close to buying one.

Yeah, those look sweet. First time I saw one on the street, I was like that's a neat little motorcycle...no wait that's an awesome scooter!

They should just go the whole way and make a cabin bike already. Honda bought a pair of Quasars in the seventies for research, even if they had a tiny fraction of their resources on a project they would have a pretty sick product out by now.

http://www.motolight.com/wysiwyg.php?id=12 have been sold for years on the merits of their making the bike more visible due to adding a 3 dimensional appearance to the lights. The people I know that have them all rave about this, and they say they aren't able to see that much better due to the extra light output. That top light on the sissybar though.....

(yeah, I've posted about this a few times in other threads before, but never started a thread about it)

Also, it's not just the extra lights, it's also the shape of the lights, especially the "FACE" treatment of the headlights.

Watch the video; they'll get to talking about how people can see diagonal lines more quickly, and how there's levels of brain activity when viewing a FACE design that are comparable to levels when viewing a human face.

You'll see a number of cars (Hondas in particular) that have a diagonal appearance to their headlights, too.

Yes please

Saw a lot of those BMW scooter-motorbike-things in Paris. There were a lot more scooters, many with protective drapes that covered the rider's legs (looked like a cowboy's chaps sometimes), but a fair number of the BMW things. Even so, I've heard that they haven't sold as well as BMW hoped.

I would have thought that BMW thing would be a lot more practical with slightly bigger wheels.

And it might sell better if BMW didn't have to beat their two wheeled creations quite so hard with the ugly stick.

Kind of cool though.
