Does anyone know anything about this bike? I have an opportunity to get a screaming deal on this (40% off), but I can't find any info about it. Perhaps it's a new model? Any info would be great.

Cannondale changed the names of their two touring bikes this year. The following link is to the Cannondale web site, specifically the Touring 2 model:

It is a new 2008 model which I believe replaces the T-800. I was considering it vs Jamis Aurora and went with the Aurora for budgetary reasons (about $500 more for the Touring 2). LBS deals in both Jamis and Cannondale. Here is a link to the specs at the Cannondale website -

It the same as the old T800. By far a better bike then the T1. The T1 has the wrong drive train for touring. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I'm hoping it could double as a commuting/road bike that would would be comfortable enough for centuries as well. I currently have a Bike Friday NWT, but it seems to lack the performance. I would likely sell it to get the cash for the T2.

Assuming the frames haven't changed, the only thing that bothers me about mine is the BB is 1.25-1.5 higher than my old Trek and newer Cannondale road frames. Not noticeable while riding, but when I do errands in town, every time I come to a light I wind up with more lean if I'm still on the saddle

But otherwise, a set of fenders, basic tool and tire kit, appropriate lights for the commute, and a pannier and you'd be good to go. Maybe swap out the brake pads for salmon koolstops if you deal with lots of bad weather.

I have a 2-3 yr old T1 (t1000), which has the same gearing as the new T2 (48-36-26 11-34). Odd that they moved to a 50 given all the complaints of Trek being geared to high.
