General Cycling Discussion - Looking For Feedback RE Wind in Ears

I just got a new Look 555 (great deal at Momentum Sports, Honolulu's newest shop, btw)
and I am noticing that even in our warm weather, I get chilled in the wind in the evenings and then this triggers a neck spasm and vertigo. I have no neck issues or health problems.

Anybody else ever have this and have a solution? I did not like ear plugs because I do like to hear the cars behind me....

I have a fleece headband that's about 3" wide... designed to cover the ears. Doesn't block noise, but it does stop most of the wind.... actually makes it EASIER to hear other noises around.

You need something soft, in a vertical orientation, barely touching your cheek on each side, just in front of your ear. I've made my own a couple different ways, and there are commercial products like The Spoiler (http://www.slipstreamz.com/content.asp?subID=9), by Slipstreamz, out there if you search. Before choosing, suggest you read and try the "finger test" at the Slipstreamz site to better understand what will work in a practical sense. This wind noise question is posted from time to time in various sub-forums, so a wider search may bring you to a larger variety of answers than mine. Have fun, quietly.

I have very sensitive ears. Fleece headbands work well. However, since I am bald I generally just wear a skull cap at those temps.

I'd rather freeze to death than be seen wearing those! :eek:

I use half a sheet of toilet paper. Shields the wind just enough to keep the cold outta my ears but lite enough to hear my surroundings.:D

Yep. Ear bands are the ticket. I use two, one for my ears and one for my nose/mouth.

Try a headband, as some have already mentioned, and you might also add a neck gaiter if you don't like wind shooting down your neck.
