I have noted that the chain on my RANS Rocket occasionally dings
against the frame. I am afraid that this will eventually chip the
paint. Does anyone have some suggestions for protecting the paint (and decals) on the frame?

Some have suggested red electric tape. However that would look bad since there are silver decals in the immediate area. I am looking for something transparent and that will not damage the paint.

Thanks for your help.

There is a protective clear tape sold in some bike shops and most catalogs that is designed for this purpose, but I found it to be a little bit on the low tack side and it tended to come loose. Recently I was looking for sweat bands at the local mega team athletics supply store (Academic?) and they were next to the tennis section. The tennis bums have a clear plastic tape to use on tennis racquets to reduce damage from ground contact. Haven't opened the package yet but I suspect the tack is a lot higher. Try some of that, if it is thin use two layers. Should do the trick a lot better than packaging tape. Steve

You might want to try the 3m Rock guard for car hoods,
try at your local car tint/detail shop. It comes in a couple of thicknesses and most of the dealers might have some scrap pieces. Try to get the scrap pieces or it may be kind of expensive. Its very stretchy and holds and looks great !
