No, not bottom bracket creaking. This is coming from, I think, my head tube. I have a 2001 giant OCR. It had a quill stem which I have replaced with a threadless converter. I now have the converter in and a threadless stem attached. Recently the whole thing just creaks like mad. I have tightened everything. I noticed that if I hold the wheel and then try to turn the handlebars thats when I get the most creak. Anybody know what this could be? I might take it into an LBS just to make sure my bike isnt going to fall apart the next time I ride it! Just another week or so till my new bike....but in the meantime I dont need this one breaking! Thanks

Try putting some grease/vaseline on your handle bar sleeves. There might be water/moisture in the area where the silver bar slip into the black sleeves .

Not sure what spinner is saying, this may be the same advice with different terminology.
I recently fixed a really bad headset creak by putting a little grease on the shifter cable ends, where they enter the frame bosses (or whatever they're called).

I have a creak in the handle bar area of my bike but it appears to be the bars. It only occurs when I exert more force on the bars when when really cranking during acceleration, etc.

The correct terminology is Handlebar and handlebar ferrule: Grease area where the handle bar and ferrule meets. Check out Chapter 28- Barnetts
