Bicycle Mechanics - Fitting a shimano cassette body onto a Campy Scirocco wheel

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I know... how dare I even ask this!!
But please, has anyone tried? or even succeeded? I had thought I read that it was possible.
I have an 8sp Dura- Ace rear and have just bought a Campy Scirocco wheelset, rather cheaply. So without going through the hassles of a total upgrade (to 9 or 10 speed) for the time being, i wondered if a Shimano cassette body would fit? I have plenty of 8 speed cogs.
I did mean fitting the cassette BODY, not just the cogs, i know the splines are different, thanks.
Thanks, fellow tinkerers:beer:
BTW I run Sachs shifters with Sachs New Success rear mech., I love to mix and match;) !!

You can't swap freehub bodies, they are totally different. All you need to do is ensure that the Campy-splined cogs have the correct thickness and spacing for your Shimano 8spd system. Marchisio do individual cogs and spacers for Campy freehubs.

You can chase up some inexpensive 8 speed cogsets to suit your campy splined wheels. Miche make the most affordable one I know. You know you can also upgrade the ratchet to 9 or 10 speed in your sachs ergo shifters if you want I have done this to mine. As for campag there is a rumour that from2004 they will make their wheels in both the campy and shimano splines but we will have to wait and see. Your sachs stuff was all made to campy spec so you will do well if you kind of stick to campy products.:D
Cannot do it. Never.
Shimano will never allow their parts to be interchangeable with competitors or vice versa.

Thanks Bikeguru,
I have a local bike builder who loves to tinker, and has overhauled my Sachs levers. He may be the man to see about upgrading the levers. I never had thought of that, so will phone him and ask... good on yer mate ;) !
Ahhh Xavier, such passion in those words!!
As I first stated...'How dare I even ask'.
But as you know from this forum site, there are those out there who ask the impossible! I suppose I must be one of those! hehehe.:D
Thanks all for your replies, the variety and the passion in cycling makes us the crazy, lovable people we are!:D

Ohh by the way Guru, I take the Shimano 8sp spacers out and fit shimano 7 speed spacers, this makes it Sachs/Campy compatible. Sheldon Brown has a listing of cassettes and spacers which is great. (not sure how to add link, but its there somewhere).
Cheers
