2008 Elite, U23 and Junior Road Nationals head to Orange County

Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 14, 2007)—Following last month’s announcement of USA Cycling’s 2008 National Championship dates and locations, the national governing body announced today that the 2008 USA Cycling Elite, U23 and Junior Road National Championships and Junior Track National Championships will be held in Southern California in mid-August.

The USA Cycling Elite, U23 and Junior Road National Championships are scheduled for Aug. 7-11 in Orange County while the USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships will be held at the ADT Event Center in Carson, Aug. 14-17.

USA Cycling awarded the road events to Jet Cycling in conjunction with Rock-n-Road Cyclery who will serve as the local organizing committee for the road race, time trial and criterium events.

Specific details related to event schedules and courses are still being determined and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Very nice! And the track championships will be in Carson. Mark, do you hear that? You won't even have to travel to take AJ to the nationals this year. I say we have a group ride to try out the road course on August 5th or something.

He'll be in the 10-12 age category, right? He may not get the jersey, but I'm quite positive he won't be DFL.

I borrowed a HR monitor from work. He used it tonight. As he outsprinted me up a short rise, he said he hit 203bpm!! I think I hit like 140 or so. My max is 189. I'm so old!

+1. If not I will for sure do the elite road race. It's really cool for the SoCal juniors that nationals will be here. I did my first junior nationals in San Diego in 1990. (I need to find that medal).

mkadam- An old coach used to let me borrow an hrm when I would do tt workouts with him when I was a junior. I remember watching that thing and it wouldn't go under 195 for about 20 min. If I'm over 190 for more than about 5 min. nowadays, I am in trouble for sure.
