Ever noticed when the cold weather comes how the forum reduces to OT redundent banter?
Is too much nervous energy building up from not being able to ride?????

The plumbing is freezing.
I think, therefore I am, but I do less thinking these days - is that why I'm losing weight?

Not a problem here. Six of us did a 30 mile ride in low 30F temps this morning. Great ride, great food stop and everyone enjoyed the cookies afterward:D

Getting in some miles here too, though not as many. Short rides only
adding up to about 30+ miles /week. Storm coming through on Sunday
looking for 12 to 24 inches of snow. Mon and Tue are rest days....maybe
I can get out to play in the deep stuff.....:):):)

Last week I posted a thread called "1951 cycle tour" which is on page 2 now and only had 2 comments. I think everyone would find it as compelling as did I when the lady sent it to me. It is long so I suspect that most people who clicked into it never bothered reading it. I suggest everyone read a few paragraphs because I expect you will get hooked and read to the end. It is a very sensitive account about conditions in post-war Europe, and I think the cycling feat is amazing given the bikes they would have ridden and the condition of the roads. And it is a lot more cycling-related than prostrate issues.

Go to the University of Tennessee's web site. I'm sure they would be quite helpful.

... so why was it raining and cold at the soccer on Friday night? :( Anyone else spent two hours under an inadequate plastic poncho with a bored six year old while watching their team play rubbish and get appropriately hammered?

Have done that as a linesman (sorry, assistant referee these days) at 40degf and couldn't get hammered. Felt like waving the flag just to get warm.

It's not the cold, at least for me. I've freezing rain outside the windows this morning. I'm still riding, but much less than I did three months ago, partly due to bad weather and partly from stress at work. I did get in 16 miles yesterday. Unfortunately the ride was cut short by the approaching storm.

I spent many hours in rain and cold when my kids played sports. Now that it's the grandkids playing I simply enforce the grandparents privilege rule and retreat to the dry car when necessary. It's their parents turn:)

I think you are making an assumption that the banter as you call it stops when it isn't cold outside.

* When making instant coffee, use the microwave oven to save time heating the water, and you'll go backward in time.

Less quantitative and more important - How much is your enjoyment of riding affected by by the use of clipless pedals & shoes?
In my case, quite a lot on long rides and any rides invoving much acceleration and climbing. Absolutely essential for my offroad riding. Less important for short, casual road rides.
