I think it would be inappropriate for MaddMaxx to ride white.

Somehow the tune just doesn't work with, "I'm dreaming of a carbon fiber Christmas."

OTOH, I kinda like "I'm dreaming of a bike Christmas."

New road bike so soon? Is this one intended to replace the gold bike or is it for a different type or riding?

Please do not get me wrong but the TCR C is to replace the OCR3 that is now not up to the type of riding I want to do. Plus the fact that The TCR is at a special price and the sale of the OCR is at a good price.

Boreas will still be the main bike- but The TCR will probably be set up slightly differently for those rides that do not involve hills- or rather- steep hills. Comes to that case of not just being a "Fair Weather" rider. Boreas is too good a bike to use for the Midweek evening rides on the rough roads that I use, so the TCR will be a cheaper bike to hack around and not be too worried about.

That makes sense. I always try to make my new bikes fit a new niche or improve on a an existing bike. I try to avoid duplicates, so the replaced bike either gets sold off or (more likely) gets converted to a different purpose.

And despite what the ram-headed one said, the way I asked the question got the answer I was after. :p

Make mine a 20 year old Cognac.

Now we are onto the real spirit of Christmas- I can recommend a British Ale that even I think is superb. It is called Spitfire and was named after the plane of that name. It is brewed by Shepherd and Neame- an old Kentish brewer. Ridiculous thing is that I cannot find it very often in the UK. I have to go to France to get it- but I will be thinking of you all on Christmas day when I tuck into the couple of cases I have got.

Scroll down the page to find it.

My new frameset was mailed today, from some place called Ohio. It is shown below. Basically red (that's a Christmas color) and black (that's not). I am enjoying the build up to the, er, build up.

I have the handlebar (Deda), stem (Ritchey), crankset and bottom bracket (Shimano Ultegra compact double/Hollowtech II), and seatpost (Easton EC70), 12-27 cassette, Dura Ace chain and . . . is that it? A seat?

And CABLES, darn, I knew I needed cables. Maybe brakes too. Probably a good idea. Man, this is going to be fun!

What's your estimated build time? And Stepfam, how about you?

maddmaxx

Build time would be about 4 hours if I had all of the parts I was going to use. However, as always happens, I might like to replace a couple of the parts I could use but want better. (a new fork for example)(a brake cable "splitter" so I can have a 3rd brake lever)

Now that I've broken tha bank I might have to gather my breath for a couple of weeks.
