Hello - i have a Puch tourer which i'm told is circa 1970s - not sure of the model name or number. All components have been upgraded over the years so that won't help date it, but the serial is 6238826. What year was it made?

Also, what's the definition of classic & vintage? (my other bike is a '91 Peugeot
Success with Shimano 105).

PS: I need a left side rear dust cover that will fit my '91 Peugeot Shimano 105 hub! Is that "classic" yet?:->

Nobody knows about my Puch? It's in Puch green. The model name was on the seat tube but only traces of that decal remain. Fork has Reynolds 601 decals.

I've been watching for this to come back up. I have two Puchs and don't know anything about their history beyond the little on Sheldon Brown's site. Mine both say Pathfinder on them, but one bike is better equiped than the other. Hope someone knows about a serial number list or list of models. Hello...... anybody out there???

I personally don't know much about Puchs, but you might
try posting to Classic Rendezvous list, lots of very knowledgable
folks over there.
I'd post the link but I can't get into my mail server, down for
maint. More info on CR stuff at Classic Rendezvous main

Your Puchs were made by Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Graz, Austria. (Yes, they also make munitions and automobile parts.) By 1980, S-D-P had adopted the Austro-Daimler marque for its U.S. exports. If you have Reynolds 531 forks, you probably have a thoroughbred full Reynolds 531 frameset with butted main tubes, i.e., the bike is a keeper. Higher-end Austrian bikes tend to be extremely durable, so you should be able to get alot more years out of it.
