Foo - Picking up a Honda Element Monday, can't decide on color.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm trading my truck in and picking up a new Honda Element on Monday. The only problem is that I can't decide on a color so I could use some help. I have narrowed it down to grey, black, and orange. Any thoughts?
I hate to get rid of my truck (2005 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Access cab 4x4) but I need something a little more practical. I'm looking forward to better gas mileage. However what is really important is I will be able to keep my bike inside the Element during the day while I'm at work. Right now my bikes stay in the back of my truck over 1/4 mile away from where I work in an unwatched parking lot. It's just a matter of time until one of them gets stolen. It will also be nice to be able to take more than one passenger to races in order to have more people chipping in on gas.
All in all, the Element is just a better choice for me.

The problem with the black and grey is that it gets very bleah after the new color wears off (imho).

It's not orange, it's copper ... and yes, this the only decent color option.

better fuel economy?
wtf?
honda element:
18/24 mpg
toyota tacoma:
16/21 mpg
from fueleconomy.gov
mpg estimates will vary with transmission and engine choice; i don't know what trany you have in the tacoma/element
i don't think 3mpg is an appreciable improvement in economy..don't lie to yourself about "better fuel economy"..you can get a way more than 3mpg improvement by just driving conservatively.
you just want something new. i've noticed it with you...you like new things, and like to switch em up often (your motorcycle, bikes, etc.)
storing your bike inside the car is a reason for the element, as is the ppl mover aspect of it..but not mpg
do what you want..i hope you are happy

Umm you can't really haul people in the Tacoma. Trust me on this one. We had one.
The Honda Element gets better or on par gas mileage than the Toyota Tacoma Double Cab which is what you would for hauling people and bikes. Beauty about the Element is everything is covered.
Tacoma would only have an advantage if you decided to haul more equipment (assuming its bed is bigger than the element's storage capacity. or its external equipment

The Honda you can put up to four bikes standing up without taking off the wheels. We've done it in my friend's Element. He threw his muddy bike in the back without as much as hitting the mud off. When I freaked at him doing this (to his new car) he merely explained that the interior floor and seat surfaces as well as the entire back of the vehicle was the type you can hose down.
I didn't believe him till he showed me the drain plug...
Now get the orange. I loves me my metallic orange. ;)
Orange. I too am looking at one of those when I replace my CR-V.

So, what color would you go with?
Considering all of the gray and black SUV's out there, orange would certainly make it easier to find in a crowded parking lot.
I would choose black. Gray seems kind of dull, and I think I would tire quickly of the orange.

Ah yes, good reasoning.
Black is the best.

I get an average of 16 mpg in my tacoma. I'm spending an average of $70 a week in gas. Quite a few people report getting around 25 mpg with the element. That comes up to 9 mpg better than what I am getting. I have the six speed manual transmission in my Tacoma.
As for being happy, I am but it has nothing to do with a vehicle.

I thought about getting the topper. Problem with that is in order to store the bikes upright I would have to lower my seat every time I loaded and unloaded the bike. Not something I really want to do. Even if I did I would only have one passenger when travelling out of town for races.

I don't really like the blue. I do like the green but a friend of mine has one so it would be sort of weird having matching cars.

White would be cool, don't really want to have it painted as soon as I get it since white isn't an option though. :o

I see an orange car and I wanted it painted BLACK!:D
Your climate is probably different in West Virginia, but here in Texas a black car means first and second degree burns if you touch the wrong spot on the door when opening it up.
I'd go gray, because (and this is just me), I'd get sick of orange after a bit. Same with any other garish color, except (oddly enough) banana yellow Corvettes.
Just my $0.02.
