Foo - Ok, need to seriously ask those who are doing this to.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Stop posting all of the Christmas posts that are aimed to annoy/trying to convert KT to liking christmas.
Would you guys appreciate having someone pushing their beliefs down your throat thinking that it should be common practice. Thought not, remember everyone has their own thoughts/beliefs and feelings about certain things, and it is up to that person to decide on whether or not they want to change those thoughts, if they don't want to then do not push it, you are only going to annoy/tick off/get the person upset.
So, please just let KT be, he doesn't like christmas, so don't go trying to convert him.

We are talking about "baiting" him. When threads are started just to rub it in his face, that's uncool.
I agree that everyone has their opinion and beliefs but when another member is baited, SPECIFICALLY, that is not to be tolerated.
A joke is a joke, and we all joke here. But as Mr.Smashy said, he is NOT JOKING about this. Please show respect for each other in that regard.
Thanks

Thankgoodness.
Turn about is fair play then. KT cannot start CHRISTMAS SUCKS threads and expect to be treated with kid gloves. If it is not OK to try and convert KT to Christmas, it is not OK for KT to bash Christmas.
I don't quite agree. KT's Xmas Sucks and I Hate Xmas Club threads are about his and others' generic dislike of the holiday. He was in turn personally and relentlessly mocked and attacked for his beliefs. That's quite a bit different, and not very nice.
Maybe I am not seeing this the same way. People start Christmas threads and the anit Christmas group is free to flail away, and do so, as I recall. But if the Christmas people let loose a few salvos, it is wrong?
Sort of like the "You know you have kids when" thread. The anti kid group chimed in and it got pretty ugly.
I guess if you have a dissenting view, do not comment. Gonna get kind of boring around here.
Out right attacks are one thing, but offering a differing view is another.
Were there an "I Love Xmas!" thread, I'm sure there would be some who would chime in with "Blah," just like xmas fans post positive comments in the "Feh On Xmas" threads. That's fine, so long as it doesn't turn flamewar.
What I'm saying is that KT was singled out and picked on. Instead of being general "I Love Xmas" threads, threads were started along the lines of "This Is Why KT Should Like Xmas!"

X has it right.
This is not an effort to stop people from trying to post Christmas loving stuff in my anti-Christmas threads. This is ONLY about the threads that were all coming out DIRECTLY aimed at me. I don't care if people want to come into my "Christmas Sucks" thread and post their pretty snowmen and stuff. To me the little fight back and forth is fun and it hasn't yet (to my memory) gone ugly.
It is also not about letting people start their "I love Christmas" kind of threads. Just like they Christmas lovers do not stay out of my anti-Christmas threads, they can't expect me to stay out of theirs, in general. And that's OK.
This is ONLY about the people who were starting threads directly aimed at me. It shows that the only thing they really wanted to accomplish was to offend me and see the reaction. I am a big boy and don't really care of somebody wishes me "Merry Christmas", but to single me out like that is a whole new ball game. The obvious intent was just to "get a rise" out of me. That is completely disrespectful of me and my opinion.

Actually not nearly as much as you think. I just ignored those threads. This whole thread here is honestly more than I wanted. I didn't even ask for them to be deleted....I talked with Siu about something else and she asked and I said "sure". This whole thread here was started from that....waay overboard from what I wanted, but that's ok.

I stopped reading all of the Christmas threads a while ago....kinda boring and overblown, however this one caught my eye..
I was under the impression that KT actually liked Christmas , just not the Christmas "season"....and all the commercialism associated with it....?

I stopped responding to any Christmas threads after I posted a few pics of the tree I had gotten the day after Thanksgiving because it was only the second tree I had ever gotten in my life - growing up poor meant trying to scavenge tree lots on Christmas Eve with dad in hopes of finding a freebie. After being met with several bah-humbugs/santa claus on the cross/etc. graphics, I got the hint, and let it be. There are always different sides to things, and pissing matches are mostly pointless, albeit sometimes entertaining.
This sticky thread makes about as much sense as the one i remember where members were being discouraged from making foolish threads in Foo. (The forum formerly known as Foo) Oh yeah, you remember that one if you were here. Seriously, if there was an offense committed by someone harassing another member, than that should be a seperate matter.
Those are violations of the TOS here at bikeforums.net. Otherwise this is just an all out assault on Christmas. This is at least the second straight Christmas season where certain members have said "I hate christmas" and "screw Christmas" in just about every thread where the subject is mentioned.
Don't handle disciplinary issues by butchering Christmas or by creating a worthless sticky. Jsharr has it right here and I recommend him for a raise. The rest of you need to report to my office in the morning.
No one is trying to kill xmas, or even prevent discussions of xmas. While a lot of people celebrate the holiday, some people don't, and some people just plain don't like it. There's nothing wrong with discussing any of those points of view. Everyone is still welcome to talk about xmas, how they hate xmas, or how Kwanzaa is the best thing since sliced bread.
This is about singling out and relentlessly picking on someone who has a differing opinion on the matter. That's all. Not everyone meant it in a mean-spirited way, but that's how it was coming across.

This is exactly my point as I had stated in my post about BAITING him. There was a thread that was started that had his name in the title. The thread was filled with posts pertaining to his dislike of the Holiday.
I can see how sometimes we post thread about other Foosters and we will tease them in it. We do that to our friends who know it's a joke and don't really mind. But when a member makes it clear he does not like it then it should not be happening.
That's good.

I don't think anyone intended for it to be permanent. Since it seems like people have said their peace and perhaps cleared the air, I'm closing and unsticking the thread.
