Foo - Van Cliburn - STILL the best

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. call me retro, call me reactionary, call me old - i still haven't heard anyone that can play the piano with the expression of van cliburn. his recordings are old, they're grainy, they're low-tech, but once you get past the technical imperfections, the music is just amazing. yes, there are many excellent pianists. i'm also an ashkenazy fan. but there simply has been no one better than van cliburn. want proof? grieg's piano concerto, 2nd movement

You're preachin' to the choir. I love Van Cliburn, among others.
That is all. Carry on.
you have excellent taste in men
...although i'm listening to ashkenazy play rachmaninov right now

Well, you think that because you have never heard Ethel Brown play "Wildcat On The Sewing Machine."
that's why he won the Tchaikovsky competition in Russia during the cold war and got a ticket tape parade in NYC! He rocks.
i heard him play once. he has the longest fingers i've ever seen in my life.
