Forum members,
I'm currently riding a Trek 2200 with a seat tube that measures 54 cm. I'm looking at buying a used cyclocross bike online, and have noticed that most bikes have 56 cm seat tubes.
So, my question is, what is the "sizing" of Trek bikes? For example, I wear a 10.5 in Nikes, but only a 10 and sometimes a 9.5 in dress shoes. How do Treks relate to other bikes in terms of sizing?
Thanks!

From what Ive seen,,,,, alot of cyclocross frames have higher seat heights than a road frame of the same size. On the Bianchi,, the cyclocross frames are often times 1" higher. You should try and at least sit on a few, before you buy online.

Trek measures their frames (seat tube length) from center to top of seat collar.....in other words, from center of crank bolt to the very top of seat collar. A Trek cyclocross frame has a higher bottom bracket height compared to their road frames, therefore will stand taller compared to an identical size road frame.
Other manufacturers measure their seat tubes from center to center of top tube (C to C) or center to top of top tube (C to T).

Note the higher BB height of a CX. To get the same standover height, you would need a smaller sized CX frame.
Also, CX riders favour more standover clearance than roadies, so an even smaller sized frame is needed.
As always the critical dimension to compare is top tube length.
All manufacturers of CX bikes make frames smaller than 56; most go down at least to 48cm.
