I saw him live in concert last night in Asheville, NC. He sounded super and could still really play a guitar........Do you know how I feel????? It's amazing to think of the songs he's done.

Others that participated were Bruce Hornsby and Jackson Brown plus at least 7 others. A 6+ hour concert with some folks standing up on the floor the entire time.

I was very happy to be sitting after the bike ride I did earlier in the day.

Anyone see any of these artists in person over the years?

Peter Frampton is on a GEICO commercial; while I did not see him in person, I do see him daily on TV.

Stephen Colbert had him on a few months ago, as a substitute guitarist for Colbert after he "injured" his hand.

Show me the way.

While I enjoy listening to Frampton play the guitar, I've always hated this song.

A few years ago, my wife and I saw Peter Frampton in San Diego at Humphrey's by the bay. It was a great concert and venue. In LA, we saw the Who at the Hollywood Bowl right after the bass player died. They were going to cancel the concert and decided to perform. The Who still has it. I was on business last year in Rio de Janeiro and saw the Stones on the Copacabana beach. Mick is too much and continues to put on a show that is awesome. It was the largest turnout for a rock concert ever - 1.5 million people showed up. I was 50 feet from the stage. They had repeater speakers down the beach to Sugarloaf. During the show, they rolled the Stones down the beach on a mini stage on rails. When the performed Symphony for the Devil and Satisfaction it was bedlam.

My wife reminded my she saw the Beatles in 1964 then 1966. While in College at Ohio University she saw the Led Zeppelin perform as a back up to Diana Ross.

Last year my wife's company celebrated its 30th anniversary by throwing a company wide party in the afternoon that featured the Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters, Bod Dylan and the Eagles. Fergi was Fergilicious and put on a great show as did the Foo Fighters. Dylan was classic and I still cannot understand a word he says. The Eagles closed the afternoon. It was an amazing experience.

Was this the Warren Haynes jam? I would love to have seen that! I have seen Warren with the Allman Brothers Band a few times, but never with Gov't Mule. He is an incredibly talented and hard working musician. Also wish I could have seen Frampton with Humble Pie. The "Frampton Comes Alive" era stuff was a little too "made for radio" for my tastes. But there's no denying he is a great guitarist. I did see Jackson Browne once in the late 70s. Another good one. And I love Hornsby's music.

I'm not a big Frampton fan, but there's no denying...he's done some good stuff.

Here are the concerts I can remember being at.

Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie (5 times), Country Joe McDonald, Richie Havens, Roger McGuinn...

I really wanted to see the Grateful Dead the few times they came through this area, but didn't make the scene, man.

Peter Frampton is amazing! Better than ever (although a lot less hair!). Saw him (with Hermes) in San Diego at a small outdoor venue by the bay - loved his tribute to George Harrison - My Guitar Gently Weeps.

When I was in college, I was on a committee that was charged with coordinating "mini-events" or small concert acts. We had a maximum budget of $5000 per event, and had to recover nearly all of them in order to host the next event.

One of the other members brought in an LP of a little-known performer from the NYC/NJ area. We took a listen and decided to offer him his $3000 performance fee. A couple of months later, Bruce Springsteen showed up and performed in our 500 seat theater. He had a band, not yet known as the E-Street Band, and played songs off of his "Greetings from Asbury Park NJ" LP and his recently released "The Wild, The Innocent, and the E-Street Shuffle" LP.

During that same year, we hosted Billy Cobham, Patty Smyth, Les McCann, Eliot Murphy, and Leo Kottke. All on an annual budget of $10,000.

Agreed. Incidentally, am I the only poster to this forum who has never attended a rock concert?

Never saw any of those artists, though I'd like to see Jackson Browne. Was never a big Frampton fan. Probably the best, and I think one of the most underrated, guitarists I had the pleasure to see was Stephen Stills--saw him solo, and it was incredible. Did see Jimi Hendrix live!

Great player, but I don't like his songs. If you can find the concert video from David Bowie's
Glass Spider tour, you'll see Frampton in the band. I enjoyed that one.

One of the wonders of the world is going down
It's going down I know
It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares
No-one cares enough

I'm always surprised to see that others have heard of Porcupine Tree. That makes at least three of us on these forums.

I used to be a big Peter Frampton fan (well, just that one album), but my musical tastes changed a bit. Still, it's pretty enjoyable listening. From a guitar player's prospective, he's got a unique sound, uses different scales, etc. Which is refreshing.

He's pretty much the reason I once owned a talkbox. Turns out my mouth is too small to get it to really work :(

I saw him in the late 70's --- and the little girls at the concert - OY! I had a group of about 15 kids (in my sisters grade) next to me and they screamed high shrill screams throughout the concert.

Sometimes I wonder if these old men need some cash and do these reunions. It's like o.k. you had your day go retire. The stones are the only group that never stopped performing so while there arthritic they still deserve to be out there.

Ever heard of the laws of supply and demand....basic economic principles? You have something and someone else wants it so they pay for it. When they no longer want it...you stop selling it. Get a clue.

ummm...you are trying to use logic in Foo...Not 100% sure, but that may be some sort of violation of the space time continuum, leading to a rip in the fabric that holds all this crazy stuff together. :p

From Wayne's World:

Exqueese me? Have I seen this one before? Frampton Comes alive? Everybody's got Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of "Tide".

Yes, I remember Peter Frampton, and when he went all sensitive-sissy with "I'm In You" I stopped listening to him. Didn't really notice him since then, until Geico lol. He played some demo stuff at a NAMM show that I exhibited at a couple-three years ago, but I managed to miss that too.

We have a surfeit of old groups and singers doing one-off concerts as comebacks over here. Cream- Pink Floyd- Led Zeppelin- just to name a few, and The Spice Girls are back:eek::eek::eek::eek:

But My All time favourite group have never given up- Well not since their retirement concert in the early 80's and I was there. Seen them 4 times since and they are Status Quo. Great cadence for hill climbing.

Saw Frampton on his tour after releasing "Frampton Comes Alive." Terrible. Simply terrible. Granted, it may not have been the best idea in the world to have him be the top of the bill at one of Bill Graham's Days on the Green (at the Oakland Coliseum - oh, thems wuz the daze) and have him follow Lynyrd Skynyrd, but the music wasn't so much the problem as was his strutting around the stage doing a preening, prancing, "look at me, I'm a rock star" thing nonstop. Well, come to think, it did affect the music - everything draaaaaaaged.

There were about 50,000 people there when he hit the stage. Maybe 5,000 of them were left when he was done. Embarassing. And I even like his music. Not my absolute favorite, but I think he's pretty good.

From the other comments, it sounds like my experience was a fluke. But oh, it was a fluke that really, really sucked.

Nope. I have a hard time listening to the same artist All Night Long for mega-bucks.
I do enjoy some of his stuff though and still crank it up whenever "Do you feel like
we do" comes on.

Gary Wright, Peter Frampton, Lynard Skynard, and ??? at the Joliet speedway south of Chicago. My roommate from college got busted on the drive up from Decatur...suspiciously playing frisbee in a parking lot at 2:00 am (and a bong in the car too big to stash under the seat when the trooper stopped to investigate. Had to depend on the kindness of strangers at the concert to provide what the cops had confiscated. Lynard Skynard kicked!
