Wouldn't a bicycle with a motor be a motorcycle? Anyway, a pulse jet is a type of ramjet and must be accelerated to a fairly high speed before it will function. The German V1 "buzz bomb" was powered by a pulse jet after being launched by a detachable rocket engine. A turbo jet is more versatile but more expensive, complex and heavier. Strapping a RATO bottle to a bike should provide a lot of excitement.

To an extent, I suppose. But think 1970's and 1980's mo-peds, which really were more like bicycles with engines on them. Except those had some level of practicality. This would be something odd just for the sake of being odd.

Anyways, a small pulsejet can be kicked off with a leaf blower or other high-volume air source.

I've seen the video of two such experiments, I think on YouTube. If interested, search for it there. The one used a model airplane jet (turbine, not pulse, jet as I recall) and had video of it being ridden.

I believe they are inordinately loud, for one thing.

Not impressive speed in the video, but these are real turbines and take RC model jets to 200 mph.

Well, it seems that the thrill of these engines is that they can create soo much power. Making a small version defeats the purpose. I'd be inclined to just go for a two wheeled vehicle that could handle the power.

Well, since you ask, I did try a jet engine experiment. Keep in mind that I'm a Navy aircraft carrier veteran, and I have a flame ******ant uniform.
Should I show a picture of the bike? It's the same bike that's in my avatar.

Anyway, I tried building a fire inside the fairing, on the theory that expanding exaust gasses would help propel the bike.

I found that there is forward force (propulsion) if I first pedal the bike to at least 12 MPH.

I had it going good one night, with a fire in an aluminum baking pan in the compartment under the fairing.
(kerosene and a rag, for a wick.)

The bike was going 24MPH when I stopped pedaling, and accelerated to 28 MPH.

It was around midnight, so there weren't many cars on the road, But Then; a blue Oldsmobile pulled out of a parking lot and started chasing me.
I had to pick up the burning baking pan and drop it in the road. The Olds ran it over and burst into flames.

Note:
I used a mixture of 40% aluminum powder in the resin, to make the fiberglass fire resistant.
