Winter Cycling - Skull cap / skullcap recommendations?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've been riding with the same REI / Novara skull cap for over a year. I wear it anytime it's below 65 or so.

Anyway, after all this time, I misplaced it. I ran in REI over the weekend and bought another one. It wasn't until I got home that I realized it's entirely different from the original one. The material and cut are different, and the hat slowly rides up, leaving my ears exposed. It's horrible and I can't wear it.

Anyway, I need to place an order(s) for a replacement asap. Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation. I have a rather large head so if you know of something that runs small that info would be useful.

Something with full ear-coverage is a must.

I tried the performance one, and it's just okay. It's warm enough, might be tight for you, and the elastic leaves a mark on the skin for a little while after you take it off. I would be interested in trying out a wool one.

I have VLC (Very Large Cranium). I use the one from SweatVac (http://www.dowrap.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=DWMWC&Category_Code=SVWB). It fits well. I like it so much I bought a second one, just in case they ever "improve" it.

I just bought the Louis Garneau Power Cap, and it is warm and looks cool.

I have a $10 wool skullcap from Target. Its headband also has a two- or three-inch polyester lining, which unfolds & pulls down to cover my ears and forehead when needed.

I have the PI -- I have a normalish sized head and it fits perfect/tad big. Works well for any temperature -- I have problems with all other parts of my body before I have temperature problems with my head. I use it for under 45 down to 28 degrees, which is my coldest ride.
