We seem to be experiencing a more unpleasant version of it than normal (http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Mutant_Form_of_Cold_Virus_Can_Be_Deadly_11704.html). I hardly ever catch a cold. This sucks. That is all.

I will send you Explody, or at the very least, an Explody starter kit. I have lots of spare parts. He will then enter your immune system and eat the bad bugs.

I woke up feeling like crap today and decided to stay home... maybe you gave me your cold ?

dude, get better, or i will infect you with something worse! ;)Seriously. Eboo has somehow obtained a vial of my blood. No good can come of that. Beware!

By the way, that article is hilariously poorly written. The author must've been coming down with something at the time. :p

Hopefully what you've got is just a cold (rhinovirus) and not adenovirus. Depending on the serotype, adeno can cause anything from a moderate cough that you recover from quickly, to muscular atrophy which takes a couple years to recover from, to death. I used to do a lot of work with adenovirus at my last job. Gnarly nasty stuff, it is.

Feel better soon!

On a brighter note...

Despite sharing Donna's cold she also got me to go out and get a Neti Pot and after using it I have to first say "wasn't that freaking gross" and then add that after using it I feel 100% better than I did.

Now I am gonna take that nap.

Hope you start feeling better soon! Both Donnamb and 65'r...sick is no way to go through the holidays!

It's the vial of fart that scares me.

Get well soon. The virus needs you too, remind him.

Aww Donna. I hope you feel better quick.

Thanks, all. Clifton, I fear it really is adenovirus. It's going around my office. I'm the healthiest of the sick, and so everyone else is worse than I am.

I feel the neti pot is really helping. I keep flushing it out...

I'm gonna have to try this neti pot thing someday. The sickest I tend to get involves a plugged-up nose and maybe a cough, but not being able to breathe at night (or much during the day) is a pain in the ass.

X, I resisted it for a long time and finally succumbed with this illness. Now I feel silly for not doing it sooner. It's actually quite pleasant.

Imagine rinsing all that black pollution gunk out of your nose after a bike commute...

I'm sure it's much more pleasant if you don't look at the resulting schmutz. :p

I'm very interested in trying the neti pot as well. I've heard a lot of great things about it.

I'm so sorry you're sick, Donna! I'd email you some hot soup if I could!!!

I've been battling this bug for at least a week and think my job (I work in a machine shop) and sucking exhaust for two hours a day in freezing weather only made what should have been mild into something worse.

Picked up the neti pot this afternoon and have used it twice (as I was that congested) and am now feeling pretty damn skippy... the tylenol sinus medication probably has something to do with that as well.

The neti pot is soooo easy to use...

Knowing me and as graceful as I am, I'd probably snuff some of that stuff up and drown myself.

Shadiyah

Yes, I am very intrigued. Perhaps I'll pick up a pot and try to get rid of some of the nasty stuff from all the inversion in the Salt Lake Valley.

Where do you get these things, anyway? I'm guessing they aren't mainstream enough to get at the supermarket.

I'm sure any natural food store would sell them. :)

Believe it or not, my employee got one at Wal-Mart, of all places. I got mine at a natural foods grocery store. Walgreen's sometimes has them, too.

This bug has been kicking my ass but that isn't what's important...

Knowing that my friend is still not feeling well I can only say that I wish I could be there to make some of my cold killing chicken soup (think garlic), fluff the pillows, make tea, and do whatever it takes to make her feel better.
