View Full Version : George Bush and Threshold Wattage
From this slate article:
http://www.slate.com/id/2180254/fr/flyout
"A legislative aide and fellow rider told the Post that Bush takes these 90-minute workouts so seriously, he recently obtained a power meter to measure how much wattage he can produce."

That info is so far beyond your security clearance that you should be banned from BF for even posting that.

I heard he is actually in pretty good shape for a guy his age. I saw an article a while ago in a magazine saying something about his running times. I don't recall exactly what they were but I do remember thinking, oh that's pretty good for an old guy.
ps. Who has the lowest resting HR out of anyone in the White House?

It's too easy to make a Hillary joke anywhere. Which is why she'll never be President. And I say that as a Democrat who would vote for her.
Oh well.

Will the rabid anti-W crowd now sell their power meters cheap? Flood the market and make used ones cheap.

And there's the qualifier. In pretty good shape for an old fart. Which means it's not pretty good at all unless you're comparing him to people who are not pretty good compared to anyone.
But he is in pretty good shape for a guy who lost a lung in a coke-fueled frat party in the 70s.
Over/under his IQ (how about IQ x 2)?

GW has PowerTaps, at least he did last year. I believe he has three.
There was a bicycling meeting with him (cyclists rights etc). He uses a few bikes, including a Trek presented to him by LA after one of his Tour wins. Apparently that one sits on Air Force One on a trainer and is totally abused, paint is chipped or peeling or something, horrible shape, pity. He has other PTs elsewhere.
He's quite serious about the whole bike thing. Apparently as soon as the heads of state (i.e. bike folks) sat down, he started asking about the PT set up, why his wattage is lower on one bike vs another, etc etc etc. If I recall he had one PT replaced after he was convinced it was "reading too low".
That's all unofficial though. Else the person who told me about it won't be invited back to discuss bike industry stuff with him. This is all second hand info. People get to ride with him so I'd be curious if they allow pictures of the "First Bike" etc.

i doubt that he can use a computer. W is a dry drunk most of the time. occasionally he falls of the wagon (pretzel face plant) but his drug of choice is usually punishing amounts of exercise.
