The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene at the United States Capital this Christmas season.

This isn't for any religious reason, they simply have not been able to find three wise men and a virgin in the Nation's capitol.

There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

My Aunt Mary lived in Sunfish, Kentucky across the road from a fundamentalist church. One year we were visiting Aunt Mary and the church was having a living nativity complete with donkeys, sheep, cattle, and three men dressed in firemen's clothes and holding a stack of books.

"Aunt Mary," I asked, "what's the story with those three men dreesed as firemen?"

"Well," she said, "I asked them and they told me it was directly from the bible."

"How's that?"

(You have to do this in a good rural Kentucky accent.)
"Don't you remember that part about the three wise men who came from a far?"
