I have been toying with the idea of starting an email list for bike commuters and utility cyclists. The idea is that this list would serve those that use bikes as a practical transportation vehicle. I would guess there would be lots of discussion of commuting bikes, gear, baggage, etc., as well as practical issues associated with rush hour traffic, showering, bike security and such. Basically, it would be like the iBOB or Fix Gear email list but for bike commuters.

I would like your collective opinions on whether this would be worthwhile and if you would be interested.

Thanks,
Dave

I don't belong to a mailing list as described here. What would a mailing list provide over a forum such as this?

By mailing list, I mean one of lists available for free from topica, yahoo and others. Basically, you join and then can post to the list. Everyone on the list can get the messages either as individual emails, a digest over a period (like a day or week), or can go look at them on the server without receiving them as email.

Sounds interesting, but I tend not to receive email from any online digest that I belong to, I tend to look at them online which would basically be the same as this forum. But I would join if you were to start one up... I'm all for more bike commuting resources out there..

Maybe there are people who do not access the web too much but do have email access that commute by bike so the only way to find out is to start a email group...

Exactly such a list already exists:
