I was on a visit to Tallahassee area last week. Long ways from home. I didn't have the bike with me but had a chance to check out the area and it looked like a pretty nice place to ride, compared to most other small to medium sized cities in the southeast. I noticed there are bike lanes along many of the main streets around town, very common where I live in CA but rare in most parts of the southeast. Also in that part of FL, all of the state highways outside the city had shoulders on the side of the road that looked fairly wide, enough so that a cyclist would have a relatively safe riding position when cars passed by. Traffic was pretty light along most of the roads outside the Tallahassee city area too. Any comments from Tallahassee area BF people? Is my impression that this would be a good cycling area on a future visit correct?

Riding here is great for the most part as there are lots of lanes fr us the biggest issue really is the motorists and thier cumulative belief that they have the right of way in every situation. There are plenty of places to ride but organized rides are definitely safer there are two great bike shops in town that do multiple rides each week Higher ground and sunshine cycles. I would suggest hitting them up.
Also there is the St marks trail which is a 16 mile stretch of converted railroad track paved over for bikes. not a long ride but 32 miles of not worrying about any cars is kinda nice.
