Your guess is as good as mine. I'm drive from Bakersfield to do this ride and I don't even know if anyone is going to show up.

Did I miss anyone? The start and start time is in the OP, and I'll put the route slip in for Grimes (the first ride) unless someone indicates otherwise. :)
As for a reschedule - I'm not rescheduling THIS ride, I just can't make it due to injury. But as soon as it has been completed (I want a ride report and at least one group pic!), I will work on getting a date for another one.

Oh, mine is minor. Hurts like the dickens but will heal quickly. I am hopeful I can ride my fixed soon. Will be a while before I can shift or brake with my right hand.

It's cheaper to heal a wrist than to get a new TV. http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com :D

Okay, I'm about to skewer myself, but what is Wii exactly? :o (go gentle - I'm not a technology type woman! I mean, just look at how long it took me to both figure out the Garmin and order cable TV :p)

It's a game console by Nintendo that has been out for a little over a year. The main fancy thing about it, as compared to other current generation game console (such as XBox360 and Playstation 3), is that it has a motion and position sensitive remote controller.
Here is a youtube video of some guys playing the Wii.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SdZm4XQRP8
It comes with a "Wii Sports" game which is basically bowling, boxing, tennis, golf and baseball. You swing the controller (aka "wii-mote") to mimic the movements like regular bowling, tennis, etc.

 Oh, no you di'nt! This ride is WAY too dangerous for an iPod! Seriously, there are some narrow, two lane highways on it where cars can get very close to you.
Sorry...it's the "Mother Mary" in me. Even though I'm not able to ride it, I wouldn't want anyone injured on it!

My wife's been bugging me about finishing our bathroom tiling job I started a few weekends ago. I can't spend the entire day riding this Sat.
You guys should do this ride. The route is gorgeous. I did this ride twice last year. The Amtrak dining car sells Arrogant Bast ards among others.

No, you have until sundown. Of course, you can bail at Carpenteria if need be. Technically, if you start at 7am, you should make it to Santa Barbara by 4:30pm at the very latest. This is, of course, if you don't have a lot of flats or a long lunch break. But again, you guys can always bail at 80 miles and still get a good ride in if need be!

Santa Barbara or bust, baby.
With a smaller group, shorter breaks (and no llama photos), we should make the 4:30 train. But I'd rather not hammer to get there - if we're making good time, we hop the 4:30. If not, we hang out for a bit of food and drink and take the 6:58 train.
But when we've done this ride in the past, we've had flats, crashes, 90 minute lunch breaks (I know no one believes me, but that's how long we were at the cafe between food and restroom breaks). So, plan on the 6:58 train and we'll be pleasantly surprised if we're home early.

You're just way too serious, maybe it was the head injury. You know I was kidding about the 7 hour thing, I figure with you out (no llama pics, no 90 minute lunch breaks, no flats and no waiting for you on hills) we can be there before noon.:D

WHO IS STILL IN FOR THIS RIDE?
I need to know how much clam juice to bring.
i see myself on the OP list but i don't remember rsvp'ing for this ride. i'd like to make it but i can't.
i will miss out on all the fun, i'm sure. :)

 You men just don't love me anymore.
For all the llama comments made, you boys have a tall order to live up to. Since I'm the one who appears to slow you down, and since I won't be there, I can only imagine that you all can complete this ride in 6 hours max (not ride time, total time). Well, that is...if you are all REAL men.
I know Thomson could do it, but he won't be there to "pull" you guys, so you may want to eat a big breakfast.
:D :p

Sorry, I'm still confused as to why we're trying to make an afternoon train. I thought we're train-ing there and riding back. I'll prolly have 1 or 2 extra peeps with me.

No, we're riding to Santa Barbara and taking the train back. We're starting at the Van Nuys train station so we end up at our cars after the train ride.

If I weren't an out of shape slug, perhaps. This is a relaxed, but challenging, training ride for some of us. Def. not going to set any records for speed.

In all seriousness, you'll be missed, m.e.! This is your ride and I'm disappointed you won't be there. Partly for the company, partly for the tormenting I can't do.

I'm in and but I will be doing this ride from a different start point. Myself, LA Baby, and another friend or two are starting in Santa Paula, and backtracking on South Mountain Rd. to Grimes, up Grimes then on to Moorpark, I figure we will meet up with everyone else somewhere around Moorpark. Then we will join everyone to the top of Casitas, and then return along the coast through Ventura, back to Santa Paula.
When I went with my friend Joe I think we got ot Carpenteria at 4ish and we left at 7am from Northridge
but we did have another 10-20lbs of stuff with us like clothes and stuff that you guys wont carry
