Hi all,
I'm planning on cycling London to Lands End in January, for fun. (and probably back again too)
I've got the route but trying to find accommodation out of season is a real pain, but feasible.
Does anyone else enjoy cycling in the worst weather the UK can throw at you ?

The worst weather the UK can throw is probably like a decent day in April or May here.

Take a look at ACF. (http://www.anothercyclingforum.com/index.php?board=96.0)
Lots of riders on there who have done lejog.
Machka, I know we ain't got your snow and cold, but we do have the slipperiest roads in creation. It's a dumb damn climate that can have heavy rain and -8C in a 24hr period.

I spent the last two weeks of November cycling around Ireland (not the UK, but the same climate). It was the best two weeks of my life, regardless of the constant rain and near-freezing temperatures. Yes, I really enjoyed the adventure of it, and I learned one big thing (among many small things)- it only takes the proper mindset to have a good time.
I also miss the weather now that snow and slushy roads force me to commute on the mountain bike.
Hi TM-london, I'm in Birmingham and today doesn't look good for any riding yet alone to Lands End. I would suggest that you layer well. Have some warm socks or at least 2 pair on plus some over shoes. Get some cheap ski gloves at Aldi/Lidl that you can wipe your nose on. I like to wear a woolie cap under my helmet but a fleece balaclava would be better. It's all about the adventure as JSteiner says so brave the elements and go for it. Have a great time.
