Just curious what folks are giving as gifts.
This year I took my wife's 20 year old Centurion LeMans and had it blasted and powder-coated then took it to the lbs to have new components installed. It should be ready tomorrow. She thinks that bike is still rusting away out in the garage...She'll find out different on Tuesday.
What kind of bike stuff are you guys giving???

For the gift excange with the bike club members, what else. ? As to receiving. My wife knows the most practical thing is to give me a gift voucher at the local bike shop.

I gave my dad a pair of long fingered gloves (nice ones), short fingered (just the Performance brand, but he has another pair...he wanted them in blue) and that stupid fleece, face baclava thingy that I can't stand. He requested the gloves, and I just got him the face thingy (it gets below 0 degrees in TN with wind chill - he'll need it!). He also got tons of TJ trail mix that he loves and a box of very nice chocolates that he has to share with my mom since neither of them really should have that crap. Of course the trail mix and chocolates are not bike related, but the gift sounds pathetic if I don't add that stuff.
I got a gift card from my family for our LBS.
Today I received a present I ordered for myself; Woolie Bullie socks from Velowear!

I am, but I'm not saying what since the recipient is a member here (although he's never posted)

I'm donating to the BF Charity Ride instead of giving a gift to one of my relatives who has
everything...that's bikey, right? (and doggie) ;)

I'm giving aerobars to one friend, Zoic cycling shorts to my girlfriend, and i wanted to build a rear wheel for another friend but so far only the hub has arrived. Still waiting for the rim...
Oh, and then there's that IRO Rob Roy frameset group buy... I'm getting one for myself and one for my brother in law. I was hoping it'd be here before christmas but i don't think he'll mind getting it late.
I'm moderately opposed to giving gift certificates/cards, well at least for my family and good friends... I don't mind getting them at all but when i give them i feel like i'm saying "I was too lazy to try and find something..."
I'm giving some resataurant gift cards...
I was too lazy, your right I should have taken the
meal and wrapped it up ready to eat.
Merry Christmas, here's some ribs, maybe a little cold though....

Cash, always the right size and color.
Never gets returned.
What??? I wanted Benjamin, not Washington....
Edit; I found 2 gift cards in my auto glove box last week... from 2003!!
I will always use gift cards, it's a shame to have somone waste their money.

My wife is getting a hybrid. Hopefully it will spur her interest to get a "real" bike.

My brother is getting one of my spare mtn. bikes, a Marin Mt. Vision Pro. I haven't ridden a geared bike off-road, in a 3 or 4 years, and it seems foolish to have a perfectly good bike sitting unridden in the garage, so it might as well go to someone who will get some enjoyment out of it.
It's a few years old, but is a pretty good bike (Full XTR, 4" front/rear travel, ~26 lbs.), and he's a starving student (Well, starving Postdoc as of early January.), so an upgrade to the latest and greatest probably isn't in his budget. This will at least be an improvement over the current ride.
Seemed a little bit cheesy to just clean out my garage for Christmas gifts though, so I picked up a nice bottle of scotch (Ardbeg) too. We both share an appreciation for single malts and singletrack.
Don't fret ME, we'll wait 'til *after* the ride to enjoy the scotch. ;)
not biking related, but scotch related... I bought myself some Clynelish 14 year old single malt...
dang I like Christmas!

Are they bike related if you eat them while on a bike ride? :p
