I have!
After all the times someone on here has typed about the two kinds of bikers, I've been the latter until now.
I was riding along a local greenway today, and tried to avoid some people hanging on the right side of it with a baby stroller and some young kids. They weren't really in my way, but I didn't want to chance one of those kids running out in front of my bike, so I drifted farther to the left. A little too far. Right into the grass. Which was fine. However, it's not fine to try to drift back onto the pavement. My front wheel caught the lip of the pavement and tried to toss me to the right so I would slide on my face. There's no way I was gonna let that happen. So I tipped the bike back over to the left and slid instead on my nice cushioned rear all the way across the asphault path, down the grassy bank, and flipped over my bike when the wheels caught at the edge of the pond the path encircles. My hands instictively shot out to hold me up, and landed on some large rocks protruding from the water, and held me about 2" above the surface. Whew!
I got up, brushed myself off, and smiled at the people looking at me with strange looks on their faces. I think they wanted to laugh, but were trying to look worried.
My bike was undamaged (the chain popped off, but went right back on), my helmet didn't hit, and somehow my shorts are fine, though I managed to tear up my rear pretty well. My knee hurts a bit, but overall, I'm still a whole Cole, which I'm pleased about.
Just thought I'd brag about finally becoming a cyclist!
