General Cycling Discussion - Famous Musicians and Their Bicycles

I found this picture somewhere on the web (oops, didn't bookmark the location). I'm curious if more of you have pix of famous musicians and their bicycles. Pictures of Henry Ford on his bike, etc., would also be appreciated!

Pushed for a response, I'd say Ringo would cut it far better as a mountain biker on that rig he's sitting on, than he'd ever cut it as a drummer in a band.:-D

Well i could not find pics but Timmy C of Rage Against the Machine is a avid MTBR, as is George Lynch (Dokken/Lynch Mob). Kirk Hammet of Metallica rides MTB's. I used to have a pic of the former Sex Pistol drummer on a MTB but I have no idea where it is. i am sure there are more but I cannot find any. Also I ince sold a Cannondale Killer V 900 to Darrel Paul of Pantera. Funny story too much money, and not enough common sense.

As a durmmer I think that Ringo is the most underrated drummer in history. Maybe he doesn't have all the chops and flash of a Keith Moon or John Bonham, but he played exactly what was needed for each song. He has impecable time, too. I think the band he used to be in did pretty well. He was the perfect drummer for the Beatles

No picture but Neill Peart (drummer, RUSH) used to ride a bike from show to show. He wrote a book "Masked Rider" that, I think, is about his bicycle tour across Africa. Never have been able to find a copy of it.

He didn't narrate Thomas The Tank Engine as well as Johnny Morris though...

Funny that this subject came up. My Brother-in-law is a professional musician (drummer) and he has a "Bicycle Throne Seat" that he uses. It's sort of bike seat shaped with a semi-pointed nose instead of being totally round.

In the "Single Video Theory" home video, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament rides a mountain bike to the recording studio. In the Seattle rain, no less.

Cool pic of Ringo on a Moulton. Moulton had luck getting pics of some pretty famous folks on his bikes. England was proud of the Moulton in the 1960's as it was thought to be so cleverly designed.

The bike scene from"Help!" is hilarious (the picture of John and Paul is from that scene). All four ride during the scene. Of course, anyone that has seen "Help!" knows that.

I've read Neil Peart's "Masked Rider". It is an excellent book, not just because it's a bike tour through Africa, but there's alot of cool sociological stuff going on and he's a decent travel writer who happens to be a great drummer/percussionist.

P.S. "Ghost Rider" is also an interesting book but it's about motorcycles and not bicycles. It gets a bit slow in the middle but is still a good read from a guy who went through hell and back with the untimely death of his daughter and then 6 months later, his wife.
