General Cycling Discussion - Watery eyes and contact lenses

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Today I lost my second pair of contact lenses in two days while doing a 30-mile ride. My eyes got really watery, and the soft contacts just fell off. What should I do to prevent this from happening again? I do wear some cheapo sunglasses. Would a better pair help?

I wear soft lenses too, but never had anything like this problem.
Maybe try those ultra-modern wrap-arond shades?

I used to have this problem until I bought some better glasses. I bought some taht wrap around my eyes and they sit closer to my eyes also. They are pretty old but I got them from Performance online.

I have never had that happen. I have a $10 cheapo pair of sunglasses from Target...but they're those great big bug-eyes movie star glasses. I feel no wind in my eyes.
I wear hard contact lenses, and I always ride with glasses of some sort for that reason. I just go to Lowes and buy those 'AOS' brand safety glasses for less than $10.00. They are made with the curved frames and lenses that conform to your face, come in various tints or in clear, and with their wrap-around fit I don't feel any wind on my face. They look similar to the Oakleys that my son bought for about 12 times as much, and if I drop 'em, scratch 'em, or leave them in a rental car or something it doesn't break my heart or my wallet.
I have about 5 pairs of them - carry one in each car, plus one in my computer bag for when I travel, one for use on the bike, one pair in range bag for when I go to the rifle range, etc.
