Introductions - Hi from San Francisco

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello everyone,
I came upon this site only recently while doing a Google search for some bike maintenance info and have been pouring over the archives for the past couple of weeks. What a terrific source of information! I can't believe I never knew about these forums! It looks like a wonderful little community here!
I am a road biker in sunny, foggy, windy, beautiful San Francisco. I have a mountain bike but don't ride it very much because I am a terribly uncoordinated mountain biker. But I've been riding a road bike for the past 5 years and have to say cycling has become my true love!
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself a bit and I look forward to particpating in the forums!

Welcome to the forums. Ever bike down the Lombard snake? I used to roller skate down it when I was a kid --didn't have a bike. Often thought it would be fun on a bike though. Anyway, welvcome to the BF! Hope you'll be a frequent poster.

True. Saturday's my club ride. Sundays I have been getting out on the tandem with my wife. Typically, out the door and on the road around 0830.

How about you, Kefin? Coming out to watch the pros agonize up Fillmore and Taylor?
Welcome to the forums!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
Yes, this Sunday is the T-Mobile International (former SF Grand Prix) and I hear this year for the first time they are having a women's race in addition to the men's. I will definitely be in the streets watching the races! I live close to downtown so it's a just a little hop from my apartment.
I think everyone in the Bay Area is coming out for the event!

No riding this Sunday. The whole family is going up to SF to watch the race. We'll probably check out the Fillmore St. hill for a while and then head over to Taylor St. I wonder if they'll have the USPS "mailboxes" again?
UncaStuart, do you know your assignment yet? I would've volunteered for marshaling except for the fact that we're doing the family adventure thing. Next year I plan to volunteer. I'll be wearing my AV cap in honor of the AV ladies and the Webcor men. Go Webcor! Go Alto Velo!

Yep, it's pretty exciting being in the middle of a bike race in the US that attracts ~300,000 folks! If you see a white-goatee'd marshall in a red cycling cap, that might be me. Say hi.

Nope, we'll be getting our assignment when we arrive at the Marina Middle School at 6am, so there is a chance, if we fight and scratch our way through the other marshalls, that we might get Fillmore or some such exciting place. Otherwise, well, maybe we'll be out by Crissy Field communing with the seagulls and the frisbee throwers!
How are you guys gonna get to the city? Bus? Ride?
