ATLANTA -- The Bicycle Bandit struck again Thursday, robbing a bank in Buford and pedaling away on a stolen bike.

FBI officials said the same man who has held up 8-9 banks across metro Atlanta stuck up the BB&T Bank at 4394 Buford Drive on Thursday.

"After standing briefly in the teller line, he approached a bank teller and discreetly presented her with a robbery note," said Special Agent in Charge Gregory Jones in a release.

A bicycle was found abandoned near the bank.

During this latest robbery the Bicycle Bandit wore a gray "Carolina" sweatshirt and what could be a New York Yankees baseball cap.

Investigators think the same man has robbed three banks in Roswell and others in Norcross, Alpharetta, Duluth, Cumming, Douglasville, Johns Creek and Marietta.

Sometimes he wears a hoodie, but he has also worn baseball or fishing caps. Police think he donned a wig and a fake moustache for some robberies.

He never uses a gun, but passes a note to tellers demanding cash; then escapes on a bicycle.

"He also has been seen driving a light blue late 1980’s or early 1990’s Chrysler mini van," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Gregory Jones in a release.

Investigators think he pedals to a car and then ditches the bike.

Witnesses describe him as 45-55 years old, between 5'8" and 5'10", slender and a heavy breather.

Anyone with information should contact the Atlanta office FBI at (404) 679-9000.

A cyclist from Georgia ... wearing a Yankee hat?

But if the FBI refers to the getaway vehicle as "Ribby" ...

It's the same choice I have to make everytime I go riding in the winter. Once I get all my gear, gloves, hood with mask, glasses and helmet on.........should I go riding...or go rob something?

I know, its really not funny.

My first thought was......I wonder what kind of bike he's throwing away.

I thought the same thing. He probably prowls Craigslist for a cheapie that works.

Not me folks. :)

First, this happened in metro Atlanta. I live in Georgia. Very different places.

Second, discard a bike? Me? Yeah, right!

Third, a Carolina sweatshirt? Not on your life. And a Yankees cap? You trying to start a fight or something? :fight:

Fourth, a wig and fake mustache? Need I remind you of the thread about coloring beards?

And last but not least, I'm 6' and nobody would describe me as slender.

Nice try, copper, but you got the wrong man. :D

Hmmm ....

6' is not that far from 5'10". Witnesses frequently make this error. Perhaps BD hunched over a bit.

The Carolina sweatshirt and Yankees hat are clearly diversions to throw them off of BD's trail. Or he is trying to link the Carolina program to the robberies, in hopes of influencing certain football recruits to go with Georgia.

Likewise for hitting the Atlanta area. He has a disdain for that area, so he thinks they deserve to be robbed.

Discarding a bike? Sounds unlikely, but perhaps they were cheap Huffy & Wal-Mart bikes, for which BD would have enjoyed abusing. Or he was showing his kind heart and left the bikes for others to use.

The slender factor is tougher, but perhaps witnesses were thrown off by his tight, red spandex.

Say it isn't so! BD is wearing corsets for men during his cycling capers ...

Oh the humanity!

Alibis: Haven't lived in Atlanta for more than 20 years. Haven't visited for almost 2 years. Plus, I look goofier than that guy.
