I guess I should define that, Dry roads, temp over 25, no percip in immediate area, winds under, say, 15 mph.

I just checked my calendar and for once I'm actually off for new years! I've been meaning to do this ride for some time now but couldn't give up on the extra $$ from work (or find somebody to cover) so I could have the day off.

The weather forecast looks for it to be cold (32) and a pretty good chance of snow (60%). I hope it's not too bad. It's always a fun ride. I plan on being there if the roads aren't too sloppy.

I ride every year on Jan 1. Whether its frigid or not. Whether 30min or longer. I like to start the year off and my odometer with a New Years ride. Brings me good luck. It means I'll do a lot of miles for that year. This year I'm pushing for 7k. Started commuting everyday in June. I hit the 3k mark this week. "No such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing"

Not to seem disagreeable but........New years day forecast is 30 degrees with snow and high winds. I call that BAD weather.

Did anyone partake in the Jan 1st Medina ride?

Unfortunately we had an emergency at work and I ended up working all night the night before and was too tired to get out of bed. I think I woke up at 11:30 a.m. where I could have possibly gotten to the start point ready to ride if I skipped my shower, slapped my bones rack and my wife's car and sped to Medina (I'm about 15-20 minutes away) but the roads didn't seem to be conducive to such a rush.

I'm bummed I couldn't make it, I love riding in the winter! I worked night shift last night and commuted on the main roads during the storm and had a blast! The ride home at 6am I took some hillier side streets and had quite a workout trying to stay upright with forward momentum riding through a virgin and sometimes rutted 3"-4" of snow on the roadway. It felt like I was CRAWLING at times to get up some of the hills but I didn't fall!
