I made the Mistake of buying a Inexpensive pair of Road shoes that probably dont fit very well... hence maybe one of the reasons I get numb feet.. anyway I want to buy a new pair with a Budget of 150$ish I have super wide feet and wear about a 10 american size. What should I be looking at? Any tips?

Thanks
Chaz

I bought a set of Sidi Titan's from Supergo for 150ish. Very happy with their fit. Before you purchase a set, you really need to go to your LBS and try on many different shoes. They all fit & are sized different.

Also, mention to your LBS your cleat style as well.

I wear a size 10 E width and have had good luck with Lake shoes. They tend to fit wide American feet better than some brands.

Trying them on in a bike shop is a good idea.
Good Luck.

Chas, some makers offer Wide shoes. I'm not sure your shoes are the cause of the numbness, but a Wide should help in any case if you're unhappy with the fit.

Cost is not necessarily a factor in fit, i've never paid more than $50 for shoes (always get them on sale from catalogs). The LBS here never has any shoes in larger sizes, so you may have trouble doing a try-on.

I would start out trying a size larger than your regular shoe size. Footwear sizes are not very standardized in reality, no matter what the size markings say They often run smaller than the labled size. The shape of the toe box in particular can make a shoe unwearable even tho it's "in your size".

I find that any footwear built on European lasts (sized in centimeters - 43, 44, etc.) are a bit wider in each size & tend to fit me better than US-sized shoes. I wear a size 12 Wide US, 46 or 47 Euro.

I had a pair of Shimano something-or-other lace up shoes that cost me $50.00 when I bought 'em.

This year I upgraded and dropped $194.00 for a pair of Sidi Genius 4s. Now I didn't want to spend the money on the Sidis and said so to the gal at the bike shop that was helping me out.

I asked if there were a cheaper pair. 'Sure' she said, 'but you'd be doing yourself a disservice, these shoes are amazing and it's an investment in the quality of your ride.'

That comment plus some other factors convinced me to drop the additional do-re-mi and I bought the shoes.

No regrets my friend, these shoes are everything she said they'd be and more. They are up there with the most comfortable shoes of any kind that I've worn!

If you can swing it, come up with the extra $50 and buy the Sidis. You'll be glad you did.
