Sounds pretty interesting but the guy lost me when he turned on the maglight and didn't even bother to focus the beam. I would guess that's an LED out of one of the cars that are starting to use them as headlights.
I still think you could do just as good with a couple of cree Q5's for a lot cheaper, and on a lot less voltage.

In today's marketplace you don't have to look any further than a couple of Cree Q5's, some rechargeable batteries, and a battery charger. Or 3 Cree Q5's if you want to really light up the night. I agree completely. When I find someone that has been riding at night for decades agreeing with me and thanking me for making them aware of this alternative, I tend to think I am right.
There are experienced riders that have seen it and would still rather purchase bicycle specific lights. But if you are open to the idea, you can save a lot of money and have off the bike functionality. Once a really superior mount gets on the market, and most people are already satisfied with the simple fishblock and bikeblock options, this will really take off.
Of course, there are always those that will want to DIY, even if it costs them more money!
