Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Good evening. I just purchased a Trek Triathlon bike (Equinox 9) and have put about 30 miles on it. I'm a road biker and am not that familiar yet with the tweaks needed to feel fairly comfortable on the tri bike. I'm close to 55 but in pretty good shape and flexible. This bike is 56 cm. My LBS is workig with me on it tomorrow. Can someone pass me a good site to check out the basics of fit and positioning on this bike? Any personal experience tips on what works an dwhat will not appreciated too. BTW, the bike is really nice to ride. I do have some stiffnes sin the neck the first couple of miles.
Thanks!

If it is your first Tri bike Congrats to you it is a nice one. I think for a newby to the aero position comfort is the key, do not try and getreally low and sleek right away it will take time to get comfortable in a new positon, your back, neck and hams will feel it first. If you have a good base and a well fit bike it will all come together. Have fun I am jealous of the choice very nice bike indeed.
Ride well:)

Bike WNC and Hammerdog:
Thanks for the information on finding a good fit and for the advice on how to begin. I have the site in my cycling folder. I went to the LBS today and we made a few minor adjustments. When the shop expert returns from vacation we'll work some more on it. Right now I am just enjoying the bike and the different postion it gives you compared to the road bike. It seems to be a really nice product - fast and not real jumpy.

I just bought my first tri bike last week and took it out for a way too long ride today (51 miles). I can ride in the aero position just fine. My back doesn't hurt. However, my neck is a different story. I could not stay in the aero position for very long because my neck got sore looking forward. I think the bar is too low. I'm going to get it changed at the bike shop. By the way, I'm 57 years old and have been doing tri's for 7 years on a road bike with aero bars. Do you think my age has something to do with my neck pain?
