Recumbent - Marauder or Meridian

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone have any input on these two recumbents? I am thinking of building. I was wondering about safety, speed, commuting and how the line up against manufactured units.
The welding is no problem to me, it is part of my profession.
Thanks,
David
David - hello again!
The Meridian was my first bent project:

I chose the Meridian over the Marauder as the seating position was higher and I felt I'd be more visible in traffic. Also, the more upright seating position of the Meridian makes it better for acceleration and hill climbing. For flat road and down hill speed the Marauder would be the better. Will likely build a Marauder some time in the future as an "event bike".

I was thinking of raising the main tube, in the book is labeled "G", to the height of the rear sprocket. This positions my seat at sprocket height, and should give me the a bit more upright position also retaining some of the low benefits. Any opinions are welcome.
