I couldn't get any love on this from the road forum so I thought I would come home and see what you all thought. All I have to do is run the brake cables, make some minor adjustments, and then iron it out on the trainer before putting on the bar tape. Here are some of the particulars.

I think it's a sharp lookin' ride. Maybe adjust that seat a little bit down in the nose so your bits don't fall asleep, but it looks really nice.

The bold-type would be why you got no love on the road forum. You need things like 12K HMCF, hollow carbon fiber crankset, 10spd integrated carbon fiber levers. Did I mention carbon fiber? Oh, and on the road forum, 36 spokes is enough for both wheels, not just one. ;)

STEEL is REAL! Our Shop LOVE the Lemond's in Steel frames. Some fine riding bikes to be sure. We let the folks know about it when they dropped a few of these a year or two ago. We had sold a lot of Steel frame bikes along with the Carbon/Steel Versailles. The Versailles is the bike I wanted to buy and when they discontinued it (Carbon/Steel) I went back to my roots with a Gary Fisher Hard Tail MTB.

16 speed. It is eight in the rear. Most everything except the crank, and rear derailure are gently used components that I had around. I picked up the frame from a local message board fo $160. I will probably change it to 9 or 10 speed later but I figured why not build it and ride it with what I have for now.

Hey Mudu, have you got a top-down shot of the bars/brakes? I'm guessing it's just the angle, or maybe those hoods aren't in their final resting place, but it looks like you've gotta have really long fingers to reach those levers.
BTW, gotta tell me what you think of those Midge bars. I've been contemplating between leaving the stocker bars on my X-Check (which I'll do for a while) and then switching to either Midge, Noodle 177 or Nitto Randonneurs.

Very nice looking ride. I like a 53-39 crankset matched with a 12-25 cassette instead of a compact but I dont ride any hills that 39-25 cant handle. 8 speed is really plenty as everyone has their favorite "gears" so ride and make sure the frame fits u and u love it before you convert to 10 speed. BTW, $160.00 for that frame is a steal;) and if it "FITS", then its a "felony":)

It is done now. Been logging some trainer miles and dialing in the fit. So far I love it.:D
