Hey, I am new to Mountian Biking, but lately have been hitting some awesome trails in like Bend Oregon. I guess thats how I got into it. My bike is pretty decent I own a Sherpa, its not anything special but it can withstand anything I can put it through....maybe except for the crashing part. Anyway I don't know much, and would like to learn more and maybe get some tips, the only question I really have I quess is approaching corners, gears, etc. The corner is really the biggest question. I like to throw the rear end out, but I checked out this site that said no to do that, cuase it would tear up the trails and it could ruin the permission to ride on trails, yet I don't think thats right, if it is, thats not very fun, anyway it would be a great help, and I hope I learn something from the site:) :)

skidding your tire on a trail thats not designed for it (read: 95% of them) will ruin the trail, not to mention make you look like a very poor rider. corners are about controll and finess. sliding through them is: not as fast, not controlled, very poor trail etquitte. By the way, what brand of bike is a Sherpa?
