For me this is the most depressing time of the year. I’m sure there are many
factors contributing to this ranging from our gloomy weather to the holiday
triggered depression of a black sheep misfit. For whatever reason, I always
find myself in a snit this time of the year.

Along that line of thought, for the first time in years I’m making a New Years Resolution. I am going to make every effort to be cheerful and pleasant for the entire year. If I can not
make a cheerful contribution I’ll make no contribution at all. This is a big step for me (Hey, we all grow at our own pace).

Once I’ve worked my way out of this funk that I’m in, I’ll sign back on…hopefully
as an upbeat and cheerful contributor. Maybe I’ll even have tales to share of the
hundreds of winter miles I’ll have logged by then.

So I’ll see you all when the Sun shines brightly from both above and within.

Till then….Happy Trails

Uh, you do realize it won't be until July or so that the sun will shine brightly from above. This is Rochester, after all. ;)

Best to just work on the inner one. Don't be too long either!

Good point! I have a 3 year old granddaughter who doesn't walk. She "prances" everywhere that she goes. This year I'm going to try to be more like her.

Bah! Humbug! When you're cranky, you're cranky. The last thing I need is an ulcer from trying to be what I'm not. With that said, I've taken very deliberate steps to make this time of year more bearable. I, too, find this time of year very difficult and have made changes in the way I "work my way through winter" to be less cranky. Being around people who "prance" helps. Using daily doses of full sprectrum lighting helps. Regular exercise (even when I don't want to ride on the trainer) helps. Etc.

Why just the visual of old guys in cycling tights prancing about is enough to make me smile. A strange, sort of WTF? smile. But a smile nonetheless.

If it makes you feel better, then fine. But I'm looking forward to becoming more cranky as I age. People are more accepting of crankiness from older men. I grow tired of calming the troubled waters at home and work.

My goal is to be cranky enough at 65 to make people wary of approaching me.

No, it's not so much the tights as it is the prancing.
