Does anyone know where I can get one?. Sanyo used to make one and my frame has a tube built into the down tube for the wiring.

St John Street Cycles has 2 models £30 and £40

http://www.sjscycles.com/

look under the catalog index: lighting/bottom bracket dynamos.

While you're there tho, lok at dynamo hubs too.

I made the mistake of buying one of those Sanyo BB dynamos (although it can also be used on a fork, stay, etc). What a piece of $hit. It never worked worth a d@mn. I have it on my old Raleigh, but that bike only stays in the neighbourhood, anyway. don't even bother with one of those.
I did just recently get a Shimano dynohub, with a photo-voltaic switch, Lumotc 3w light, and handlebar mount. It works perfectly, weighs less than the old batteries did, and never leaves me without current. It's on my touring bike (although I don't plan to take it on any long tours).

I had a Sanyo in the early eighties and it was fine, though I did make sure it was well protected from road crap (mudflap etc)

Lasted for 5 or six years but eventually the bearing gave up.

I really want a dynamo as a back up for my Cateye halogen and led lights.
