I am looking for my first rechargable headlight for my bike. I am willing to spend around $100-$125 on it. Does anyone know of any really good light in this price range?

I really like the Fenix flashlights I got based on a recommendation in this forum.

Are you looking for a diy solution or a ready to ride type of light? I've got a 13 watt HID Trail Tech headlight and 11.1 volt li-ion battery, although it would be about $80 over your price range. It puts out plenty of light for both being seen and seeing where I'm going. LED is probably the best bet for reliability and longevity but not as bright as HID.

I want a bike specific type of light that mounts to the handlebars.

NiteRider Trailrat, Light and Motion Solo, Cygo halogen. For around $100, it's hard to beat a halogen system.
If you want even more bang for your buck, DIY like this (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=368772). Nothing else is gonna touch it!

If you have a set of rechargable AA batteries and charger, you can get a Dinotte 200 for $150

I have noe and am happy with it.
Cygolite night rover extra. Can't be beat for the price. Google it and get one, then go ride.

$70 + shipping.
Get another set if this is not enough and get either a lockblock or bikeblock, whichever works, and mount on your helmet. $140 + shipping and it will put out more light than any bike specific light in that price range.

I've got a Cygo Nite Rover that I'm pretty pleased with for general bike-path and suburban street use. It has a 6 watt bulb and 10 watt bulb, with NMH battery.
I'd want more light for very fast riding, or doing a lot of riding in unfamiliar territory, or for mountain biking.

I posted a similar question a few weeks back, I went with the Fenix lights. They are great. I bought two for the bike. I like them so much, I bought two more for family members.

I'm not so sure that holds true anymore...
Watt for watt the Cree xre Q5's are neck and neck with HID's these days. I can see 4 Q5's wired up to that same 11.1V battery being better, brighter, and more reliable than that 13 watt HID.
Bang for buck, an overvolted MR16 20 watt bulb is probably the best, with the new breed LED's runnign a close second.
For most general use I found the Light in Motion Vega to work rather well. Small, clean, good run time, fair amount of light and no external battery. It's in the price range you asked about also. Yes you can get flashlights and mounts however this is clean and bike specific. I have several Nite Riders that I like , but as I said for everyday use I like the Vega.

I have a Vega and a Fenix P2D CE Q5. The Fenix puts the Vega to shame. To be fair the Vega is first generation so it is several generations behind. Light and Motion is not keeping up. The spill is about ten times more and the beam is bigger, brighter, and projects many times farther. Honestly, if the Fenix flashlights are already on you cannot even tell you turned on the Vega.
You could buy 2 Fenix and mounts for the price of a Vega and have money left over. Now if the Vega were updated to a Cree Q5, you would really have something! It might rival the Exposure Lights Race Max or even the Enduro Max in brightness but with less runtime. I wish Light and Motion would offer an upgrade to the Vega. I really like it's features, but it is just not bright enough, even for group rides.
