Does anyone know much about Felt MTB?

I've seen a model called an Esterel which looks really good value (£399) on sale at Evans (Waterloo/London)

Does anyone know if Felt Bicycles and Felt Racing are related?

Felt Bicycles seem to be German and make mid-entry level MTB while Felt Racing seem to make Triathlon bikes.

I've found plenty of rave reviews about Felt Racing triathlon bikes but I can't find any reviews of Felt mountain bikes.

Thanks

:)

I dont think that Felt MTB are available here in the US, but I honestly dont know if Felt bicycles and Felt racing are related, I have wondered that myself

The shop I worked was a Felt dealer and they had a frameset shown in their catalogue, but it wasn't available in the USA, so I have no info/experience with the mtn bike line. However, I was very impressed with their quality/value for their road bikes.

i looked at a felt road bike when i was shopping for my road bike. i remember reading that the guy(s)? who started felt have years of experience with frame building etc..., so it should be a solid bike. but i haven't seen any of the mtb bikes. what type of riding did you plan to do on it?

here's the link for any that is interest

Well since the logo is the same I would say there is some relation. I heard the MTB line was coming to the states in a year or so. The success of the '03 road bikes is making that happen.

Theres a review of a Felt MTB in What Mountain bike, i could upload it sometime this weekend if you'd like.

Apparently they're very impressive, nice frames with good components for the money.

Felt is the same company that produces both the famous triathlon frames and the mtb frames. They are good frames, i wouldnt consider them a budget solution in general, then again everyone produces budget frames except from small high-endish behaving manufacturers.

Nice one. Thanks for the replies.

I feel much better about parting with my hard earned money now!

I'll let you know how I get on with it.

I'll be using it to commute (need the shocks cos the roads here are so poor)

My LBS sells Felt road bikes, but I havent seen any of their mountain bikes. Their road bikes look okay but that's all I can really say about them. One of my professors is buying one soon..

Felt seems to produce just about any kind of bike you'd want. I first came across Felt with this cruiser.... (Sorry if off-subject, but there is a MTB frame in the background of the pic)

I'm just skeptical of brands I've never heard of or seen before, that's all. My professor got his bike.. he loves it. I just thought they were some generic knockoff brand with cheap frames and expensive componentry, but like I said.. I don't really have any experience with them.

Jim Felt has been making custom bikes for 25 years. He is huge on the west coast and is said to be the best tri bike builder in the world. He is said to be a master with aluminum.

Did any of you guys see NWD II with the session and Hell Track or whatever it was called. I think the other rider (not John Cowan) is riding a Felt!

We might have more than one Felt here. The MTB manufacturer is a fairly well respected German based company. In the UK press their bikes generally get good reviews.
