Over the last few years, I've tried to cut back my car use. I've been keeping some statistics on my efforts and I hope to use these figures to help me find ways to reduce car use a little more.
In 2007, I used 588.5 litres and paid $620 for the privilege, or 105.35¢ a litre on average. (Unless something happens, I should have enough fuel left to take me until some time in early to mid January.) During the warmer months, I went through just two tanks of fuel. A tank lasted me from May 5 to July 23, or 79 days and another one took me from July 23 to Oct. 6, or 75 days.
By comparison, in 2006, my fuel consumption was significantly higher at 1,186 litres. I paid $1,159.56 for gasoline that year, or 97.8¢ a litre. In 2005, I used 775.5 litres at a cost of $715.05 or 92.2¢ a litre.
