Road Bike Racing - help me spend ~700

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you don't know what to buy, you probably don't need anything. Don't you have a wife/child/mother/charity on which to spend money?

Save it away for race fees and consumables (tires, tubes, chains, etc.)

I'd save up more and buy a completely new bike. Initially I'd suggest a better group than the 105, such as Ultegra, but for the cost you'd get more bang for the buck by buying a new bike.
If you are sticking with the same bike, I'd go with above said group or new set of wheels.
A used Powertap (or a new one if you can find it for that price, by all means).
I have one thats going up for sale if you do become interested.

+1 I spent $680 on my used PT SL with two harnesses. It's really helping me to zero in on my limiters. Much better for performance than anything else I could bolt to the bike (other than an SRM?)
Edina has PT Pros for ~$700, but you have to get a hoop and spokes to build it up. Used is a much cheaper way to go. Keep an eye on slowtwitch, and maybe http://www.txbra.org classifieds. From there, I have a friend who just scored a PT SL Bontrager for $750 with two computers and two harnesses (one computer would ebay for $175 pretty easily, but he's keeping both).
