Classic & Vintage - 1975 Woodrup Sport

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi All,
I'm in the process of building up a beautiful 1975 Woodrup Sport. Here's the big question that I have. I want to keep it as a 6/7 speed so I want to use parts that will work with this system and I also want to be as true as possible to what a 75 Woodrup would have available as far as components. So the question is; what type of components would a 75 Woodrup Sport possible have on it in terms of components.
BTW: I'm asking this lovely question since I was only 6 when this bicycle was built.
Thanks for you input
:D
I'm not an authority by any means but the Woodrups I've seen have been real nice. If you search this particular forum I'm pretty sure you'll find a thread withsome nice pics.
Parts? Campy Nuovo Record comes to mind right away. Not cheap but reasonably easy to find. eBay and the classifieds at CampyOnly.com are good sources. Deals can be had. Awhile back I scored a complete Super Record group including seatpost and built up wheelset for either $200 or $250 on CampyOnly. Other Euro components such as Simplex or Huret would be time appropriate but I'm not a real fan of those and they're not as available as Campy.
If you go Asian I do believe Shimano was doing their 600 line by 75. DuraAce was right around there. 1st generation DuraAce derailleurs were labelled as "Crane" (the bird). If you fudge a couple of years you could go SunTour Superbe which is my favorite Asian group and perhaps the best friction group made, Asian or European. Superbe and the later Superbe Pro is not particularly cheap. ST Cyclone was excellent as well though a year or so more recent than 1975. How "period correct" do you want to be and how much do you want to spend? The other important question is how much time do you want to spend chasing parts too?
Welcome to the club!
