Tom, the camera looks like a very cool thing, but I'm more interested in the Aerobars;) I'm a few bucks shy of the camera, but have thought about going Aero. Have you had these before?

Tom I have the same camera, bought it last summer, posted a review on my blog along with a video or two. No sound as it was lousy. I was in a rush to post so other than editing (trimming, it is amazing how much of cycling is really boring to watch) I did not add a soundtrack. I may go back to recording sound to see if I can improve it with some modifications to the microphone (saw mods on the web, but can't find them at the moment).

Trust me I know, I just spent 155 dollars on tires for my Tarmac and 249.99 for the cassette on my Epic.

Were the aero bars specifically for the camera or do you ride them alot?

Looks great Tom! I have the same aero bars and really love them, though since most of my riding has been commuting as of late I took them off. Too twitchy and can't reach the brakes in a pinch. For longer rides there is nothing better though!

You probably already know this, but.. lots of riders will not let you ride in a pack with aero bars. The more experienced they are, the less they want you riding near them. Not even in a casual group.

I don't think it's exclusively the aero bars. Many cyclists don't want to ride with people either much better or much worse than they are. Believe it or not, as unskilled a cyclist as I am, I've had people, including a BF poster, say they don't want to ride with me because I am too good. (No, I didn't make that up.)

This summer I rode with an endurance cyclist training for RAAM. I started to apologize for not being a better rider, and he cut me short. "Yeah, we both know that. So there's no need to mention it." So neither of us did and we had a good ride.

I was surprised to have someone tell me on the LD forum about how many people at the Seattle to Portland double century draft while on their aeros! Talk about dangerous...

I used to have aeros on my Trek 2100 which I used as a tri-bike. I loved the aeros for long distances because I could just prop myself up and relax. Tom, I really dig the camera mount at the top of the aeros; I bet you're gonna get some awesome vid with that, and maybe freak a few people out since it looks like a little bazooka up there. ;)

He's open minded though, so it may well make a difference in how the laws are written for Lafayette, since the Mayor, while he doesn't ride, A) Wants to start, and B) wants to make it safer for us while NOT restricting cycling. Cool, huh? A Pro Cycling Politician! :D

It's not. But if you have them you will almost always be asked not to get close or ride in a pack. It's not even legal to use them in mass start racing. It's not always a problem, but I thought I would mention that it happens to lots of people, in case it happens to Tom.

I know you won't, and you know you won't. But people will have this reaction just because they are on the bike.
They think you might use them. Lots of dummies have preceded you and done it already.

I used them for years, they are great for long rides. I finally got to the point where I can put my forearms on the (road) bars and just copy that position without the aerobars. As long as I have good padded bar tape for arm comfort and traction.

It's evil ;) fun to pretend I have them when someone is around and then move my arms to show they are not there.

I had a canon z video camera mounted to my aerobars when I road on the Sky Line drive in Virginia last year. I got sea sick going uphill with the camera taping back and forth across the road, but the downhill video was worth it, you could even here me scream........
