My little 248 pound brother is having problems starting a thread but has obtained a classic Trek 530 and would like to get some ideas on the best saddle. My thanks to all.

Well, best I can say is to first, get the sit bones measured. Having the right width saddle is critical. Too narrow hurts and so does too wide. If there's a Specialized dealer around, they have a tool called the Ass-O-Meter (Not kidding on the name). It's essentially a slow recovery memory foam pad that holds the indentations of the sit bones long enough to measure them. After that, look at Brooks. Wallingford Bikes (http://www.wallbike.com/) has a deal with a 6 months, no questions asked return policy on Brooks.
