Well the performance carbon bike was just too much for me to worry about so I was going to look at a nice steel bike.
At a little DFW bikeforums gathering someone mentioned richardson bike mart and their vast selection and used bikes. So my wife took me down and got me an early Birthday present (new years eve)
I was looking at some old schwin worlds and they had a paramount but it was too large :(
However what did they have that was just my size!

Full dura ace (8 speed) on a titanium frame

I tried a few other bikes and I just couldn't resist the calling so there it is on my fireplace with my fujis old seat so I can go out for a ride after I swap over my Dinottes. :D:D

Well certainly not 2007 (or '06,'05,'04) but it is full dura ace with sti shifters of the 8 speed variety with a double crank.
I purchased it based on the ride quality the tough looking/feeling wheels and knowing merlin was a quality bike. I've looked for at least an hour to try and find a serial number, year, model or anything but nada.

Well just got back from a little 7.5 mile loop. Had to stop at 4 stop signs and 2 lights but had a rolling average of 21mph. High average is mostly due to the fact that I just got a sweet new ride that only weighs 22 lbs vs my 65lb Fuji Touring Xtracycle Monster. I accidently pulled a wheelie from a stop which was kinda cool. My xtracycle is long wheelbase so it just isn't possible but I guess it is on the merlin.
96 looks like the last year for the Dura Ace 8 speed.. so maybe 94-96 Cyrene but I asked over on C&V.
The speedway sound kinda cool I'll have to see what the wife says. Between this bike and possibly a Giro 26 in April I may have pushed her generosity.
I may have a good shot at the Connecticut ride and visit my parents at time in June though but can I really trust the airline with my bike :( Might just have to settle for the one down in Austin.

Thanks All I'm enjoying it. It is a very nice ride. Just got back from an all day ride with the wife. About 6 1/2 hours on the saddle and no complaints, from me at least ;)
