Mountain Biking - GT frames or not?

Hello everybody, hope i found the right place, this is my first post at this forum!

Anyway, i am building a new MTB, i got a sweet deal on a 03' GT frame, i can choose from:

Avalanche 0.0
Zaskar Pro
Zaskar Expert

What is the difference between these frames? Is GT a good brand for XC, or should i choose something else?

Let me know what you think please, and why:)

(Hope my english is ok, writing all the way from Denmark)

Well the Avalanche 1.0 is a 7005 series alu. frame, and the Zaskar's if memory serves me correct are 6061 alu. frames the Zaskar is lighter than the Avalance and is a good choice for singletrack, and racing. The Avalanche is better for longer term use as much as alu. allows anyway.

There is no difference between the two Zaskars unless you buy a compleat bike. Then the differances would be in the components.

If you are looking for a good trail bike both frames, Avalance & Zaskar work well. The Zaskar does have a steeper head angle and is a bit more race oriented but either will work.

Just a quick note, make sure that they are '03 frames, some bike shops are still selling pre-bankrupt frames. I believe that some of the '01 Zaskars had integrated headsets as well, this is fine if you are light, and handle the bike well. If you um... how do you say... are like a bull in a china shop, this may not be the way to go. Im not sure if Pacific is providing warranty on previous GT's & Schwinns or not. On this, I could be wrong, but it is just something I'm thinking out loud.

triple triangle frame looks awesome, but isnt at strong as the traditional frame shape

thats what my mechanical engineer grad student friend tells me....its funny bc he rides a triple triangle frame!

Yeah thay are 03' frames, 99 years warranty, don't think it will break, but it is a nice warranty non the less. (First owner only i know)

Lol:D Light... hmm not really. No clue what i am in Lbs, 1.92cm and 92kg's. I an not a total newbie, and not a pro, something in between.

PPl told me they are stronger then most other frames? A good frem for "real" (read tall / heavy) men like myself?:)

Well, i'll get my frame tomorrow, so i hope to be on the trail on Sunday, now i am just crossing my finders for a great ride, can't wait!!!
